According to the “2011 Outlook” survey recently released by Borrell Associates, more than half (53%) of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that intend to spend on digital advertising and marketing in 2011 expect to increase that spending compared to last year. Surveying 2,800 SMB owners, the Borrell study was summarized by Kate Kaye in a recent ClickZ post.
Still more remarkable was the amount of the jump: spending on websites, social media and email marketing is set to grow by over 30%. Even taking into account that 2010 was still recession-restrained, that’s a pretty strong increase.
A second study, conducted by Adobe Systems and reported in B2B Online, found that almost three-quarters of businesses plan imminent investments in website redesigns or significant site enhancements to improve ROI. Other hot areas were analytic tools for measuring/optimizing website experiences; mobile; advertising on social networking sites; and branded social community pages.
The Adobe survey was conducted from December to February, drawing 1,941 respondents from among the worldwide subscribers to Adobe’s publications.
