We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: all hosting providers are not created equal. The typical low-end hosting provider’s commitment includes only power, communications access, and server hardware and OS; it does not extend to the application that you’re 100% concerned with ...your website. If your site goes down for whatever reason but their server is up, you’ll need to find and fix “your” problem. And good luck finding a real person to discuss the problem with; most such providers’ idea of support is email (at best).

By contrast, eMagine commits to your application’s (website’s) uptime, not just our host server, comm and power. If you – or we – find your site down, or exhibiting any sort of unexpected problem, we’ll work with you to cure the problem as soon as possible. And you’ll be working with a real human – in fact, the same person over time, who knows and understands your site and its functions.

Notifications are sent to multiple individuals via monitored web application, email and telephone. Business-critical applications can be restarted automatically.

Backup Procedures

Standard Backup –

  • Full backup - Every 7 days
  • Incremental backup - Every other day
  • Data stored locally on NAS or SAN device for 30 days
  • Data stored to tape and kept offsite for 60 days

VPS Standard Backup –

  • Full backup - Daily
  • Data stored locally on NAS or SAN device for 30 days
  • Data stored to tape and kept offsite for 60 days

SQL Server Backup –

  • Full backup - Daily
  • Data stored locally on NAS or SAN device for 30 days
  • Data stored offsite on NAS or SAN device for 5 days
  • Data archived to tape and kept offsite for 60 days

Basic Recovery Procedures

Standard Recovery –

  • Software/File Failure: Restored from local backup
  • Hardware Failure: Restored from local backup to warm spare
  • Disaster / Datacenter Failure: Restored from archived backup to alternate hot or warm sites.
  • Testing: Performed twice per year.

VPS Standard Recovery –

  • Software/File Failure: Restored from local backup
  • Hardware Failure: Restored from local backup to warm spare
  • Disaster / Datacenter Failure: Restored from archived backup to alternate hot or warm sites. VPS can be migrated within 60 minutes.
  • Testing: Performed twice per year.
